Oprah-Inspired “Big Give MN” to Hold 2nd Public Meeting May 21st St. Cloud, MN – The area business leaders who started Big Give MN, a group of volunteers that matches business resources with the needs of families & individuals in the state, are holding a public meeting May 21st at 11:30 at the St. Cloud Rasmussen College Campus. Lunch will be available starting at 11:15, followed by the meeting at 11:30. A home cooked lunch and beverages, which can be purchased for $4/person, will be prepared and delivered by My Dinner Solutions for the meeting. “Since our launch in April, we have been busy connecting those in need with area businesses and individuals who are willing and able to make a difference,” says Randi Tapio, Big Give MN founder and owner of Medical Billing Professionals in St. Cloud. “Big Give MN has made a tremendous difference already.” Big Give MN is a network of business leaders who are willing to leverage their colleagues, family and friends to meet the non-monetary needs of individuals and families. By bridging their collective capital, the group aims to change lives, build stronger communities and inspire a generation of leaders. So far the network has been able to help in many different situations. One local family had a daughter with severe burns and Big Give MN was able to immediately and collectively put the word out, thus generating a benefit that raised funds for the family. Many different sources pooled their energies making this the first of many activities that will directly help the family as their daughter receives ongoing medical care. Big Give MN also connected with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation's Good Samaritan Fund to locate and provide means for a local working woman to purchase an affordable car. Through the network, Rasmussen College stepped forward this spring with a full scholarship to allow a working mother of five emerging from domestic violence to attend class. Big Give MN also helped connect her with community resources for affordable housing for her and her children. "Sometimes the impact is dramatic and evident to everyone and sometimes the impact is felt only by one family or one set of individuals. But it all matters" says Tapio "If you are that one individual - it certainly matters to you!"
